Susan Bailis Assisted Living

On Saturday afternoon, a group of three musicians (Amber Wei, Lang Le, and Keagan Yap ‘25), performed at Susan Bailis Assisted Living and had a lovely time chatting and interacting with the residents.

Lang Le began with a beautiful selection of classical guitar including a piece called Sevilla by Isaac Albaniz. Lang played the piece with great sensitivity to detail, dynamics, and musical interpretation making a compelling and impressive start to the performance.

Amber Wei then gave a moving rendition of Chopin’s Nocturne in C# minor followed by Arabesque 1 by Debussy. This glimpse of the romantic and impressionistic era was followed by a contemporary interlude with Wizard Fantasy by Mary Leaf and Haydn’s 2nd movement of Sonata in C Major. One of the residents notably expressed Haydn as his favorite composer, and it was a pleasure to bring back one of his familiar tunes through our performance.

Last, Keagan Yap ended with classical piano and also incorporated festive tunes including “Let it Snow” spreading holiday cheer in this early December. To the resident’s delight, Keagan also incorporated their favorite pieces into his medley such as “Rainbow Connection” from the Muppets as well as Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata at the end of our performance.

It was such a delight to perform for the residents and we are looking forward to returning!
